I grew up in a small town in rural Iowa near a glacial spring fed lake called "Lake Okoboji." The winters were very quiet and monochromatic... white. The ground was white with snow, the lake covered in white ice, all of the trees would lose their leaves and be covered in snow and ice and the winter sky was often white too.
It felt as if someone had erased all of the color. And it was very quiet.
In the spring the snow would melt, the colors would come back in leaves and buds, and when summer came along the vibrant blooming flowers emerged along with loads of tourists and summer home owners pouring into the lakes area to enjoy the warm weather and the
summer activities.
I always loved the summertime. I loved the warm weather, the lush green landscape, and the colorful flowers. The blue sky, the yellow sun, and watching the sunsets over the blue water. That was my happy time. So much so that I have chosen to live in tropical places most of my adult life.
Now living in Florida, the winter brings loads of tourists and "snowbirds" who come to enjoy warmer weather while the north is frozen, and in the summer they leave granting us a quiet season. I love the quieter calm of the summer here in Florida, I enjoy the warmth, the humidity, the lushness of growth of everything tropical. The
gulf coast water is so warm it's like a warm bath. I swim in it for hours.
And school is out so my son is home with me a lot. My son is in drivers ed this week, learning how to drive a car. I'm especially grateful for the reduced traffic on the roads while he is learning to drive.
I'm feeling especially creative lately, painting and learning new things this summer. One thing I'm learning is "short form" video content. Short form videos are shorter, faster moving, and usually have a "B role", which is supplemental content added in after the original shoot in order to create more interest and engagement and to clarify what is being shared. It's like
producing a very short movie, and it takes a lot more editing time than shooting long form style.
I am learning this because after two years of my daughter persuading me to get on TikTok, I have finally decided to give it a try. TikTok is the hub of short form content and short attention spans, and my intention is to reach a younger audience
who are ready for or already experiencing spiritual awakening.
Here is my first attempt at a short form video on 5 Steps to manifestation, I'm sharing the YouTube version in case you don't have TikTok (I'm NOT recommending you get TikTok!)
